Caleuche Merlot 2021
According to Chilean legend the Caleuche is a ghost ship that sails the fjords of southern Chile, led by powerful sorcerers and crewed by sailors and fishermen lured aboard by its ghostly music and enslaved for all eternity. The ship sails at night, always full of lights and with the sounds of a party on board, but quickly disappears again, leaving no evidence of its presence. Those who see or hear the Caleuche but resist its call become a floating piece of wood or marine animal forever.
Tasting notes
Attractive ruby and garnet red color. Heaps of black fruits with hints of blackcurrant and black pepper in the glass. A pleasant mouthfeel with a rich texture and a persistent finish that coats the palate and just enough tannin to stand up to pairings from pizza and pasta to roasted meats and vegetables.
Description
Caleuche Merlot from Maule Valley, Chile
Grape: 100% Merlot
The Maule Valley is located in the southern part of Chile’s Central Valley. This area, where we find the largest vineyards in all of Chile, has a tradition of growing grapes that dates back to the 17th century.
Located between the Andes Mountains and the Chilean Coast Range, the Maule Valley benefits from a significant temperature variation between day and night, with its rainy season restricted mainly to winter. These conditions allow us to obtain healthy grapes, with high concentrations of color, flavor and aromas.
FEATURED: 290 hectares of own vineyards allow Aromo to obtain the best wines including their wine from Caleuche Merlot 2019.
Four estates:
- El Trapiche
- Ventolera
- Santa Margarita
- El Pilar
